Preparing Your Image

For best results you should prepare your images as follows:

1) Select only the contents of the browser window - Remove window borders and scroll bars

2) Grab the visible area only - use the "above-the-fold" portion that would be seen at first glance

For users with a MS Windows-based PC:
Pressing 'Control + PrntScrn', 'Shift+Prtsc', or simply pressing "Prtsc" will take a capture of your entire screen and place it on your Clipboard. After you have taken a screenshot, open a blank presentation program such as MS PowerPoint and paste the image into the slide body. Now, format the image so that only the page elements (just your website screen) are the only thing that can be seen (crop the image so that the browser and window bar are removed). Once this has been done, re-size the image to conform to the allowable image dimensions (see the product overview for details).

For users with a MAC:
Pressing 'Command + Shift + 4' will turn your mouse into crosshairs (an icon that looks similar to a target). Place the crosshair in the corner of your browser, hold down left-click, and drag the selection to cover then entire page you are trying to capture. Once you release the left-click the image is placed on your desktop, usually with this type of file name: 'Picture #'.

For most internet browsers:
Screenshot or screen capture add-on's can be downloaded for most browsers. A simple Google search for either 'IE7 screengrab' or 'IE7 screenshot' will produce a list of places to download. Once the add-on has been downloaded, carefully read instructions for use. Add-on's can typically be found under the 'Tools' tab or footer bar of your browser.

File specifications:
Once you have secured an image, there are a few other things to keep in mind. We have a few limits on size and file name:

  • The image width must be between 500px and 1200px
  • The image height must be between 500px and 1200px
  • The file size can be no larger than 1MB
  • The file name can only include alphanumeric characters, special characters like these, " !@#$%^&*()+=-[] \';,/{}|\":<>? ", will not be accepted
